Xaverian peer tutors are students from the high school who volunteer to help other students in the high school and in Genesis to be more successful in the academic areas in which they struggle. The purpose of the organization has been to provide support to others in the community. At the same time, tutors fulfill community service requirements and add them to their college resumes. Even more importantly, they are experiencing the pleasure of giving to others and increasing their understanding of the perspectives and thinking processes of others. This broadens their minds and increases their capacity for empathy. Tutors have met with their tutees, before, during, and after school hours.
